    Calspan has been in the business of supporting the U.S. government with unbiased crash investigations and research since the 1970s. Governmental statistical analysis programs such as the National Automotive Sampling Survey (NASS) and many other special studies rely on Calspan’s dedicated and seasoned staff to produce timely and accurate real-world crash research. The Injury Analyst is responsible for completing data entry after, assessing and analyzing online medical  reports and injury records, complete data coding entry as it relates to AIS 2015.   

    Responsibilities

    • Review more complex medical records and interview and extrapolate applicable injuries from medical, interview, and police crash report data.

    • Assign injury sources in conjunction with a Senior Injury Analyst using basic kinematic patterns.

    • Input numeric injury code into government program and further annotate detailed injury information onto anatomical manikin diagram.

    • Read and interpret medical reports.  Advance knowledge of injury causation and NHTSA protocol as it relates to injury.  Apply advanced knowledge of injury causation to complete initial Injury Causation Scenario interpretation with oversight from a Senior Injury Analyst.

    • Maintain logs of activities and completed work.

    Qualifications

    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • Bachelors degree in related discipline
    • 3+ years in related discipline or;
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
    • Medical coding experience
    • Demonstrated reliability, and efficiency in day to day activities – ability to consistently maintain a quota case count

     

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

    • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology
    • Completion of Medical Terminology Course
    • Certified Professional Coder, ICD-9, or other medical coder certification a plus!
    • Knowledge of basic physics and/or automative crash industry experience a plus!
    • Nursing graduates welcome.
