    Calpsan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system.  We are an engineering products based company with excellent prototype and low-rate production machining capability.  We are currently recruiting for a Fabrication Technician who enjoys challenging hands-on work in a fast paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Produces and assembles hardware components into complete assembled test articles
    • Completes assigned task within predetermined schedule and budget
    • Verifies conformance of components and finished assembly to specified tolerances, blueprint specifications, and other required specifications with various measurement tools, including, but not limited to, calipers, scales, micrometers, and gauges
    • Interprets, selects, adopts and applies appropriate assembly guidelines, procedures and practices
    • Effectively operates general machine shop tools and machinery

    Qualifications

    Preferred Education / Experience for Fabrication Technician:

    • Apprenticeship, Journeyman certificate, Associated Degree or equivalent
    • 3+ years of related work experience, or;
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

     

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability for Model Technician:

    • Knowledge of working mechanical assemblies
    • Able to use standard fabrication tools and equipment
    • Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret security clearance
    • Able to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed
    • Experience with high tolerance prototype components
