Calspan’s interns will contribute to exciting projects in both the aerospace and automotive industries and have the opportunity to participate in professional development sessions led by subject matter industry leaders.

     

    Calspan Aerospace supports industry innovators through our demonstrated ability to design, fabricate, ground and flight test unique aircraft maintenance and modifications. We thrive on non-standard adaptations to aircraft for special missions. Our multi-disciplined staff of engineers, fabricators, and technicians have the experience and know-how to handle any customer need in this area. The fact that many of our staff fly in the same aircraft they modify is a testament to the level of effort and attention to detail that goes into each modification. We are looking for a motivated Software Engineering student to join our team!

    Responsibilities

    • Assist Flight Research Group Engineering group with the development of Matlab/Simulink models for Calspan owned aircraft
    • Work to develop/refine existing control system models to expand on the capabilities of Calspan’s Variable Stability System In-Flight Simulators
    • Support additional on-going flight programs with general engineering support including data reduction, documentation control, and engineering process improvement

    Qualifications

    Due to security requirements, candidates must have US Citizenship

     

    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • Must be currently enrolled in a Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering program at accredited college or university
    • Must have completed (3) years of undergraduate studies by May 2019 (students graduating in May 2019 or graduate students will not be considered)

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 

    • Efficient in Matlab, Simulink, Control System Theory
    • 3D CAD (Inventor or NX preferred), CFD or classical aerodynamic analysis
    • Must be motivated and have a strong desire to learn
    • Proficient with MS Office
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work in team environment
