Calspan’s interns will contribute to exciting projects in both the aerospace and automotive industries and have the opportunity to participate in professional development sessions led by subject matter industry leaders.

     

    When it comes to occupant protection and the associated restraint systems, whether it’s within an automobile, aircraft or any other form of transportation, physical testing on a sled is still the go-to-method for evaluation. It can be used to evaluate anything from the performance of a seat and the associated restraint to the effect of the occupant compartment including its cargo on occupants’ safety. We are looking for a motivated student pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology to join our team.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with engineering an technician staff in set-up equipment, test articles and facilities in order to prepare for and execute tests.
    • Assist staff in the execution of  tests in a professional and timely manner, consistent with general laboratory practices.
    • Support the Interpretation of test results, compiling of data and generation of all test reports accurately and  as directed

    Qualifications

    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • Must be currently enrolled in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology  program at accredited college or university
    • Must have completed (3) years of undergraduate studies by May 2019 (students graduating in May 2019 or graduate students will not be considered)

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 

    • Must be motivated and have a strong desire to learn
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Proficient with MS Office
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work in team environment
