    Flight operations at Calspan consist of a large portfolio of engineering, flight, and research activities. Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research center is home to a fleet of aircraft that include Learjets, Gulfstream III, and a Premier. These aircraft are used for variable stability programs, flight equipment testing, and a variety of other projects for private and government organizations.     We are looking for a motivated Avionics Manager to join our team and continue our rich tradition of modifying and flying test aircraft. This position manages and performs avionics repairs and installation for FAA repair station and for use on experimental aircraft. Overall responsibility for the execution and profitability of all commercial avionics tasks.


    • Manage with the intent to motivate, train and develop.  Manage administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, recordkeeping, and timekeeping. Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding work and performance.  Manage non-performing employees in accordance with company policy.  Manage high potential employees to career succession and growth opportunities. 
    • Perform avionics inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and project installations and modifications to commercial and flight aircraft.
    • Fabricate and/or modify electronic enclosures, panels, circuit boards and wire harnesses for various applications. Work quality shall be inaccordance with FAA regulations.
    • Support avionics business by efficiently operating equipment and ensuring accurate results and records. Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after tasks.
    • Follow established quality assurance procedures with regard to all work performed.


    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • Associates in related discipline
    • Previous experience managing complex FAA repair station avionics department
    • 5+ years in related discipline or;
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

    • Troubleshooting complex aircraft avionics problems
    • Electrical and electronic principles
    • Perform operations and execute moderately complex test procedures for engineering, scientific, or real-time data acquisition
    • Read and understand engineering plans and specifications
    • Read drawings and troubleshoot
    • Microsoft Office
