    Calpsan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system.  We are an engineering products based company with excellent prototype and low-rate production machining capability.  We are currently recruiting for a Fabrication Supervisor with experience managing and leading a multi-disciplined team while achieving department and company goals. This position requires a self-motived individual with a hands-on approach.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage with the intent to motivate, train and develop. Manage administrative responsibilities (scheduling, timekeeping, budgeting) . Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding work and performance.       Manage non-performing employees in accordance with company policy. Manage high potential employees to career succession and growth opportunities
    • Ensure the team completes assigned tasks within budget and schedule by monitoring the daily expended hours and associated progress; address deficiencies and make necessary recovery plans
    • Plan, direct and coordinate daily activities necessary to meet program, task and/or component schedules and budgets
    • Provide adequate and appropriate input to the Production Control department to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the allocated schedule, budget and task definition
    • Ensure compliance to quality & safety standards

     

    Qualifications

    Preferred Education / Experience for Fabrication Supervisor:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline;
    • 5+ years of related discipline;
    • Previous experience in management position; or
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

     

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

     

    • Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret security clearance
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Must be a self-starter, able to work on multiple projects, and prioritize workload
    • Knowledge of current composite materials and processing
