  • Overview

    Flight operations at Calspan consist of a large portfolio of engineering, flight, and research activities. Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research center is home to a fleet of aircraft that include Learjets, Gulfstream III, and a Premier. The Avionics Technician will support to testing and engineering including operating and maintaining of test equipment.


    • Perform inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and project installations and modifications to various aircraft assigned to support.
    • Fabricate and/or modifiy electronic enclosures, panels, circuit boards and wire harnesses for various applications. Work quality shall be to the acceptable level for aircraft installations where applicable.
    • Support testing by operating equipment and ensuring accurate results and records. Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after testing.
    • Follow established quality assurance procedures with regard to all work performed on and associated with FLTR aircraft.


    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • AAS in related discipline
    • 3+ years in related discipline or;
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

    Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

    • Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems
    • Electrical and electronic principles
    • Able to solder and make fine wire connections
    • Perform operations and execute test procedures for engineering, scientific, or real-time data acquisition
    • Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
    • Testing and inspection principles and procedures
    • Microsoft Office
