    Calspan Systems Corporation provides expertise in wind tunnel models and related test support hardware, aircraft components, flight test hardware, engine test rigs, rotor blades and rotor test stands, electronic data acquisition systems and marine surface and underwater systems. The primary objective of Calspan’ s Manager, Sales & Business Development is to increase sales and sales opportunities by broadening the customer base and increasing the volume of business with existing customers. Calspan Systems Corporation is a customer centric, close knit, hardworking, accountable and reliable team who leverage their strong technical aptitude and experience to provide world class R&D services. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and highly innovative individual with strong organizing and time management skills. The candidate must have the ability to handle multiple priorities on tight deadlines and is responsive to customer needs.

    Candidate location is flexible.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Identify and close new business opportunities. Work directly with major government agencies, OEM’s, and other commercial enterprises to demonstrate the value and expertise of Calspan Systems Corporation
    • Directly manage the designated core customer base from a retention and growth standpoint
    • Participate in the development of project proposals and spend the necessary time with customers to present and document the value and identify new opportunities. Develop strong working relationships with internal and external business partners
    • Follow a strategic sales and marketing plan that clearly outlines the direction and milestones of our business development and marketing efforts for profitable growth that is in alignment with our company strategic plan
    • Professionally represent the company at various business conferences, trade shows and community events. Increase our visibility within the technical/lecture communities
    • Build and maintain customer relationships

    Qualifications

    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • Bachelors in a business and/or engineering related discipline
    • 5+ years in related discipline;
    • Previous experience in sales/marketing/business development position or;   
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

     

     Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 

    • Proven track record of meeting Business Development/Sales objectives in a technical consultative selling environment
    • Strong working knowledge of government & commercial contracts; ability to navigate landscape in both arenas and effectively communicate market
    • Strategic thinker, passionate about driving growth, customer management/relationship building skills
    • Superior verbal and written communications skills; expertise in writing documents and presentations in a highly dynamic environment
    • A self-starter, risk taking, highly innovative individual with strong organizing and time management skills to handle multiple priories, responsibilities and customer needs
    • Mechanical aptitude for an R&D environment, including technical knowledge of Calspan System Corporation product lines
