    The Tire Research Facility is a world leader in the indoor measurement of Force & Moment data on tires. With Customers including leading vehicle manufacturers, tire manufacturers and Motorsports organizations, Calspan is always improving and advancing the science. We are searching for a motivated Associate Electrical Engineer to join our group. This individual will work with staff and customers in a fast-paced precision test lab supporting major motor-sports and automotive companies around the world.


    Associate Electrical Engineer (Tire Testing) Summary:  Maintain and improve test systems, including electrical and software systems for data production and quality control. Work closely with customers in a fast paced precision test lab supporting major motor-sports and automotive companies around the world.


    • Document data processing workflows to ensure consistent and accurate data processing results. Support the development of technical documentation, new applications and test procedures.  This includes engineering plans, requirements definition, test procedures, installation design plans and related technical reports.
    • Improve controls and data acquisition systems on test machine including setup of instrumentation, programming in Matlab, Python, Labview, PLC.  
    • Maintain, repair and upgrade test systems to maximize operational availability and the fidelity and accuracy of all test data. Manage equipment calibration, repairs and procurement.
    • Operate test machine, produce data as required by customer on an as needed basis. Understand all facets of testing and be able to fill operator vacancies periodically
    • Support analysis of feasibility, design, operation and performance of electrical equipment systems.


    Preferred Education / Experience:

    • Bachelors in Engineering or related discipline
    • 1+ years in Engineering or related discipline or;
    • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above


    Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

    • Electrical/Electronic engineering methods
    • Work on existing code in Matlab, Python, LabView
    • Perform basic analog and digital circuit design
    • Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
    • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage  abstract and concrete variables
    • Microsoft Office

    Must be able to work 2nd shift.
