Overview

Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research center is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include the USAF VISTA NF-16, four Learjets, two Gulfstream G-IIIs, and a Premier 1A. These aircraft are used for variable stability programs, airborne equipment testing, and a variety of other flight research projects for private and government organizations.  We are looking for multiple motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our team to assist with designing, building and testing computer and software systems for our experimental aircraft. 

 

Remote opportunity for those living outside of Western New York or Edwards, California regions. 

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of testing operations in accurate and efficient manner.  Design, develop and maintain embedded systems in testing environments as a member of a software team.
  • Maintain and document software approaches and solutions through the software life-cycle for multiple programs.
  • Support development of new applications and test procedures.  Evaluate new technologies for implementation.  Conduct research that tests and analyzes feasibility, design, operation and performance of systems.
  • Work with an Interdisciplinary team to define requirements, design software architecture, implement and unit test code, integrate software and checkout with aircraft systems.
  • Support structured SQM and SQA processes.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters CS/EE/CE or related discipline
  • Software development or related experience or;
  • A combination of education and experience  
  • Due to security requirements, US Citizenship is required. 

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Embedded Linux SW development
  • C development, C++ development
  • Structured SCM and SQA environments
  • Network programming
  • Linux device drivers development
  • Interfacing analog/digital/serial/avionics busses I/O hardware at register level
  • Git SCM
  • GNU toolchain
  • Qt graphical applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • MIL-STD-1553 bus
