Overview

Calspan’s Subsonic, Transonic Wind Tunnel, is the only independently owned and operated wind tunnel in the United States. Our staff is known for its flexibility and responsiveness to our customer’s needs. Customers appreciate this approach, as it enables them in real time, to refine test programs. Wind Tunnel test programs that support the various phases of an aircraft’s development. We are looking for a motivated Program Manager to be responsible for managing customer related activities associated with major Transonic Wind Tunnel (TWT) Programs including order forecasting, obtaining RFQ’s, proposal strategies, securing orders and interfacing with customers. In addition, this position is responsible for the program management of internal capital projects associated with the TWT.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.

  • Lead program team to achieve program objectives (cost, schedule, quality and technical performance), while managing risks and opportunities.
  • Directly manage the designated core customer base from a retention and growth standpoint. Participate in the development of project proposals and spend the necessary time with customers to present and document the value and identify new opportunities. Develop strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Manage the program activities involving department or cross-functional teams. Focuses on delivery within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.  Manage cost for program materials in support of program requirements. 
  • Work directly with major government agencies, OEM’s and other commercial enterprises to demonstrate the value and expertise of Calspan. 

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters in related technical discipline
  • Project Management Certification
  • Previous experience in management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience  
  • Due to security requirements, US Citizenship is required

 Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Experience and expertise in technical marketing and sales
  • Financial procedures and systems preferably in the Aerospace industry
  • Thorough understanding of program phases and related analysis and reporting
  • Strong understanding of program financial analysis and reporting
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
