Calspan Systems - Advanced Solutions is a trusted partner to the US Government and the Aerospace & Defense industry providing specialized expertise and high quality ground and flight test systems with a focus on hypersonics. We are seeking a motivated Program Manager to join our team. 


  • Directs all phases of program execution from inception through completion. Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding work and performance. Manage the program activities involving department or cross-functional teams. Focuses on delivery within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.  Manage cost for program materials in support of program requirements. Partner with engineering and operations to provide technical support.  Identify program related issues and manage solutions, such as allocation of resources, changing contractual specifications, etc.    Manage all employees assigned to their programs from a technical, manufacturing, subcontract, and/or supporting function perspective.  Ensure program budget, materials availability, quality and technical performance are achieved through direct management of Itegrated Product Team (IPT) members. 
  • Develop customer relationships by managing associated customers to ensure satisfaction and retention. Stimulate additional work and growth through established customer relationships. Participate in the development of project proposals.  Present the value of Calspan to all customers to assist in the identification of new opportunities. Develop strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Work colaboratively with technical teams on design and manufacturing concepts. Ability to understand and apply engineering and/or manufacturing concepts, interpret requirements, drawings and other technical material.
  • Maintain project and technical documentation. Work directly with major government agencies, OEM’s and other commercial enterprises to ensure compliance with sepcifications, contractual requirements and independent audit agencies.
  • Establish milestones and manage adherence to master plans and schedules; develop risk assessments and monitor compliance to mitigation plans. Manage program related requirements and scope to ensure contractual obligations are satisfied in direct relation to the estimated work scope. Responsible for participating in the neogation of contracts and scope related contract changes.  Leads program review sessions internally and with the customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance


Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors in related technical discipline
  • 7+ years+ in related discipline
  • Project Management Certification beneficial, but not required
  • Previous experience in management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
  • Due to security requirements US citizenship is required


Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Previous exposure to engineering, machining and fabrication processes, interaction with shop personnel, and familiarity with manufacturing techniques preferably in aerospace industry
  • Thorough understanding of earned value and scheduling using Microsoft Projects
  • Strong understanding of program financial analysis and reporting
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems and drawing interpretation
  • Must have thorough understanding of government contracting vehicles, procurement and subcontracting procedures, task estimating and other operational techniques necessary to accomplish assigned programs
  • Must be able to define and track program risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Must be able to work standard and non-standard shifts at times to meet project budget and schedule requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance
