Overview

Calspan Systems - Advanced Solutions is a trusted partner to the DoD, NASA and the aerospace & defense industry providing specialized expertise and high quality ground and flight test systems with a focus on hypersonics. We are looking for a full time Propulsion Engineer to join our team. Our Proplusion Engineers lead and coordinate high speed propulsion system and related subsystem design, analysis, integration and test efforts for wind tunnel and flight hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Support propulsion system design and analysis tasks using various classical methods and engineering codes/tools
  • Coordinate propulsion-related project activities between necessary disciplines
  • Provide regular project status to management team on propulsion system design and analysis tasks
  • Support customer status meetings and reviews for assigned projects

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Specialization in high speed airbreathing propulsion desirable
  • Working knowledge of compressible gas dynamics and propulsion cycle analysis

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Experience with design and analysis of ramjet and scramjet engines and related system design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis codes for engine flowpath, cycle analysis, and aero-thermal loads development required.
  • Ramjet/scramjet test experience, experience with high-speed vehicle design, propulsion integration and/or trajectory analysis and optimization codes a plus.
  • US citizenship required to obtain/maintain a DOD security clearance
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance
