Overview

Calspan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system.  We are an engineering products based company with excellent prototype and low-rate production machining capability. We are seeking a Production Control Coordinator to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Produces manufacturing process plans, issues complete manufacturing packages to fabrication. Schedules and monitors manufacturing packages’ progress and provides corrective measures as necessary to ensure manufacturing plan is achieved; elevate critical issues.
  • Partners with VP of Operations in the production of manufacturing process plans and issuing complete manufacturing packages to fabrication in a timely manner
  • Partners with manufacturing to determine required processes, material and tooling required and orders to ensure on time delivery to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
  • Provides guidance to wider Operations team and feedback to the VP of Operations to ensure program requirements achieved

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline;
  • 5+ years of related discipline; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work on multiple projects, and prioritize workload
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of machining (5 axis machines),  precision measuring and tools, machine setups, and programming
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints
  • Prepare instructions for N/C programming on machine tool type, cutter selection and sequence of operations for parts to be machined utilizing N/C equipment
  • Identify any special tooling or fixturing requirements.
  • Design and process fixturing as required to support the manufacture of hardware.
  • Review drawings and size raw material based upon manufacturing methods to be used.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Projects
