Overview

Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research center is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include Learjets, Gulfstream G-III’s, and a Premier. Additionally, we support the VISTA X-62A at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, CA.  These aircraft are used to conduct a variety of experimental flight test programs for our private and government customers.  We are looking for a dynamic Manager, Electrical Engineering to join our team, continuing our rich, 75-year tradition of modifying and flying unique test aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Manage in alignment with our Company Values. Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion. Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding performance with a commitment to motivate, train, and develop. Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
  • Direct and oversee execution of programs in an accurate and efficient manner.  Define project requirements, including deliverables and constraints, designing and developing a solution and conducting necessary activities to confirm and validate solution.
  • Develop new applications and procedures;  ensure conformity to standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements; and that they are under configuration control.  Identify new technologies for implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance to personnel involved in developing designs and executing programs.  Review designs and correct as required. 

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors in Computer or Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related discipline; Advanced degree preferred
  • 9+ years in hardware and/or software development or related discipline
  • Previous experience in management position; Demonstrated success in leading/working within a multi-disciplined team
  • Aviation-related experience preferred
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Computer, electrical, and/or software engineering methods
  • Hardware and software development processes including configuration management
  • Project management
  • Proposal development and presentation
