Overview

The Sales Engineer will work with Aerotest Laboratory customers to scope and propose manufacturing and test projects. Responsibilities

  • Identify and close new business opportunities for Calspan ASE’s  FluiDyne Aerotest Lab group. Work directly with major government agencies, OEM’s and other commercial enterprises to demonstrate the value and expertise of Calspan ASE. 
  • Directly manage the designated core customer base from a retention and growth standpoint. Lead/Participate in the development of project proposals and spend the necessary time with customers to present and document the value and identify new opportunities. Develop strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Develop and relentlessly implement a strategic sales and marketing plan that clearly outlines the direction and milestones of our sales and marketing efforts for sustainable profitable growth that is alignment with our company strategic plan. Provide regular and accurate feedback for order forecasts.
  • Manage and set expectations with customers that are in alignment with project plans. Clarify and negotiate issues with the customer as needed. Understand/clarify contract requirements, negotiate changes, and achieve contractual acceptance/completion. Monitor project financials to meet budgets, forecasts and cash flow. Initiate invoices for work completed and support customer interaction  during the payment process as necessary.
  • Professionally represent the company at various business conferences, trade shows and community events. Increase our visibility within the technical communities.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

Bachelors in engineering, marketing, business administration, or relevant subjects that support the Technical Sales discipline;
• Experience in Wind Tunnel Testing (technical) and/or technical sales
• A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
• Due to security requirement of this position, US Citizenship is required

 

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

• Proven track record of meeting domestic and international sales objectives in a technical consultative selling environment
• Strong working knowledge of government & commercial contracts; ability to navigate landscape in both arenas and effectively communicate market
• Existing relationships with aerospace OEM’s
• Strategic thinker, passionate about driving growth, customer management/relationship building skills
• Superior verbal and written communications skills; expertise in writing documents and presentations in a highly dynamic environment
• A self-starter, risk taking, highly innovative individual with strong organizing and time management skills to handle multiple priorities, responsibilities and customer needs.
