Calspan ASE takes great pride in our ability to attract, recruit, and develop extraordinary talent. We are currently looking for exceptional students to fill our 2023 Summer Internship Program. Calspan’s interns will contribute to exciting projects  and have the opportunity to participate in professional development sessions led by subject matter industry leaders. We are looking for a motivated student to join our team as a Mechanical Engineering Intern! This position will be located in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team in the conceptual development, design, and analysis of mechanical subsystems utilized in wind tunnels, aircraft engine test cells, and other aerospace ground test facilities. 
  • Preform entry level engineering on welded steel structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, simple and complex mechanisms, rotating equipment, and process equipment (pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling water.)

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program at accredited college or university
  • Must have completed (3) years of undergraduate studies by May 2023 (students graduating in May 2023 or graduate students will not be considered)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally.
  • Must be self-motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and ability to work well with others.
  • Proficienct with MS Office.
  • Familiarity with design tools appropriate for the field (3D modeling, Finite Element Analysis, etc.).
  • Experience in preparing design criteria, calculation packages, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Ability to work with mechanical designers in the preparation of technical drawings and parts lists.
  • Capability in coordinating with other technology groups, project management group, marketing and customers as required.
  • Skills in managing project budget and schedule requirements.
