Overview

Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research Center is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include four Learjets, two Gulfstream G-IIIs, and a Premier 1A. Calspan also operates the VISTA X-62A aircraft for the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, CA.  These aircraft are modified and used to conduct a variety of flight control, airborne sensor and system testing, and other flight research projects and demonstrations for commercial and government organizations around the world, including at the U.S. Air Force and Naval Test Pilot Schools.  We are seeking a Senior Manager, Programs to join our Team. This individual will be responsibile for managing all activities associated with Programs including writing proposals, estimating cost and schedule, tracking program costs and status, interfacing  with customers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage in alignment with our Company Values. Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion. Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
  • Manage materials definition and configuration by managing support from product engineering, process engineering, and configuration management.
  • Manage the program activities involving department or cross-functional teams. Focuses on delivery within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.  Manage cost for program materials in support of program requirements. 

  • Ensure program budget, materials availability, quality and technical performance are met by managing and directing the activities of team members.  Maintain project and technical documentation.

  • Works closely with the Director of Flight Operations to provide scheduling support related to the Calspan aircraft and required maintenance activities. Manage and resolve priority conflicts with the aircraft maintenance team regarding projects, tasks, and maintenance operations. 

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in related discipline
  • Experience in similar industry
  • Project Management Certification
  • Previous experience in management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Financial procedures and systems preferably in the Aerospace industry
  • Thorough understanding of program phases and related analysis and reporting
  • Strong understanding of program financial analysis and reporting
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
