Overview

Calspan’s Test Services Flight Research Group is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include Learjets and Gulfstream G-III’s. Additionally, we support the VISTA X-62A at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, CA.  These aircraft are used to conduct a variety of experimental flight test programs for our private and government customers.  We are looking for a motivated Learjet Aircraft Mechanic to join our EAFB team, continuing our rich, 75-year tradition of modifying and flying unique test aircraft.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience

 

  • Perform inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, project installations and aircraft modifications.  Remove and install controls, electrical units, hydraulic components, engines and engine components. Responsible for mechanical soundness of aircraft.
  • Perform or direct servicing, towing, starting and maintenance of the assigned aircraft and ground support equipment.
  • Keep abreast and maintain files of aircraft manuals, service bulletins, etc.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, manuals and procedures for mechanics. From drawings and sketches, layout, fabricate and install special modifications without compromising aircraft structural integrity or accepted aircraft standards.
  • Maintain, operate and troubleshoot complex research systems installed in the aircraft.
  • Attend pre-flight and post-flight briefings as necessary.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Formal aircraft maintenance training
  • 5+ years’ experience in field
  • Airframe and Power Plant ratings highly desired
  • Learjet 20/30 series or USAF C-21 experience highly desired
  • Must hold or be eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Layout, fabricate and install special modifications to the aircraft.
  • Use of precision tools, measuring devices, instruments, etc.
  • Required to adhere to procedures and requirements outlined in current Calspan work instructions.

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
