Overview

Calspan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system. We are looking for a Manufacturing Planning Supervisor to join our team. This position is responsible for shop scheduling, creates pre-planning estimates and ensures programming and operational work packages are complete and issued in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Manage in alignment with our Company Values.  Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion.  Create awareness in others of their abilities; involve others and share authority in planning and decision-making; challenge the Team and provide support by allowing them to take appropriate risks.  Create an environment in which others feel ownership for results and feel comfortable taking action to achieve desired results.  Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding performance with a commitment to motivate, train, and develop.  Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
  • Partners with VP of Operations to schedules work through the operations organization such that programming, machining and fabrication priorities are set, communicated effectively and achieved, such that budget, schedule and quality goals are met.
  • Partners with manufacturing to determine require process, material and tooling required and orders to ensure on time delivery to ensure project deliverables are achieved. 
  • Schedules and monitors manufacturing “packages’”, provides corrective measures as necessary to ensure manufacturing plan is achieved; Report on progress to plan, highlighting issues, concerns and risks. Elevate critical issues.

  • Work with the operations team to produce  pre-planning estimates that can be used as a basis of operational planning and commitments.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline;
  • 5+ years of related discipline; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work on multiple projects, and prioritize workload
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Extensive knowledge of scheduling multiple activities.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of machining, including interpreting blueprints, precision measuring and tools, machine setups, and programming preferred.
