Overview

Our customers get a single, experienced partner to help them efficiently validate engine and airframe performance across development, production and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The Controls and Instrumentation Designer is responsible for responsible for design and drafting of electrical equipment, wiring, control equipment and data acquisition systems used in jet engine test cells.  This is a diverse role that includes working closely with engineering to release predominantly custom one-off equipment and components for new tunnel facilities as well as major capability upgrades to existing facilities.

Option to work 9/80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off!

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.

  • Partner with engineers to design electrical, controls and facility integrated systems. Organize CAD drawings (junction box and other larger assemblies, panel layouts, schematics, cable assemblies, etc.) and bills of material in accordance with company configuration management plan and established procedures.
  • Research and select/specify hardware based on design requirements.
  • Clearly communicate and manage the release of bills of material and drawings outside of engineering. Includes communication of changes due to drawing and bill of material revisions to downstream departments and customers.
  • Interface with procurement, production, and installation teams to resolve issues and concerns discovered during equipment assembly, testing, and commissioning.
  • Perform design duties on schedule and within budget, adhering to quality standards, industry codes, and customer requirements.
  • Perform remote site field installation, checkout, testing, and customer service.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Associates degree in electrical technology or related discipline
  • 5+ years of related experience or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
  • To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical
  • Experience with ERP based bills of material systems
  • Familiarity with GE, Allen Bradley, and Siemens PLC’s
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electric Code)
  • Familiarity with various measurement instruments (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, limit switches, strain gauges, flow meters, etc.)
  • Able to balance priorities between multiple projects simultaneously
  • Hands on electrical assembly and installation experience is desired
  • Ability to work effectively and productively as an individual contributor and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • 10% international and/or domestic travel
