The Associate Supervisor, Automotive Laboratory Services, is a working supervisor who coordinates activities in the instrumentation and calibration laboratory to support Calspan’s execution of cutting-edge research and testing programs.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.

  • Manage in alignment with our Company Values.  Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion.  Create awareness in others of their abilities; involve others and share authority in planning and decision-making; challenge the Team and provide support by allowing them to take appropriate risks. Create an environment in which others feel ownership for results and feel comfortable taking action to achieve desired results. Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding performance with a commitment to motivate, train, and develop.  Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with the test articles.
  • Verify that all work aligns with the provided test workbook. Serve as the point of contact for any issues that arise and resolve them before, during, or after the test.
  • Set up and install equipment, instrumentation, and cable routing; perform soldering and system checks before, during, and after testing.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to prioritize and schedule vehicles before, during, and after testing. Provide status updates and ensure timely completion of test articles.
  • Maintain consumables inventory is available for test articles.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • AAS or above in a related field.
  • 3+ years in a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 

  • Must be able to manage troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems
  • Electrical and electronic principles
  • Perform operations and execute test procedures
  • Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
  • Testing and inspection principles and procedures
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
