Responsibilities

  • Develop and initiate Request for Quotations (RFQ’s). Evaluate quotations and negotiate price, terms, and delivery schedules. Select qualified suppliers by using best sourcing practices.
  • Execute Purchase Orders with suppliers and monitor the status of the deliverable to mitigate quality issues and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Proactively coordinate purchasing activities with production control, project managers and engineering to meet project requirements and schedules and identify risk(s). 
  • Conduct supplier recertifications, assessments and relationship management activities to ensure strong and consistent supplier performance.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of buying, replenishment strategies, contracts and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to write, edit and amend contracts preferred.
  • Ability to create a collaborative environment with suppliers/contractors and cross-functional peers.
  • Experience working in a project related business or in new product development.
  • Ability to read and interpret common technical information and drawings.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and ERP and MRP software.
  • Commodity related experience with build to print fabricated steel and machined parts, electrical, electronic and specialty measurement equipment, Valves, pumps, hoses and associated items, Hardware, and other items as designed.

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
