2nd shift is scheduled Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Responsibilities

This position manages the planning, directing, and execution of building operations and services for the Calspan SLED Business.

  • Manage in alignment with our Company Values. Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion. Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
  • Supervise the activities of a team of sled technicians to assist in the set up, execution, and deliverable review of research and testing programs. Communicate and coordinate directly with the Sled Operations Manager and customers to ensure program objectives and requirements are met.
  • Manages test schedule and staff productivity to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Conduct tests in accordance with customer requirements, standard test procedures, and work instructions. Take measurements and document results through procedures, checklists, photographs, and high-speed video. Review the accuracy and quality of test reports.
  • Maintain, repair, upgrade test systems and equipment to maximize operational availability, and the fidelity and accuracy of test data.

Qualifications

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

Technical & Management Skills:

  • Operational Planning & Execution: Skilled in managing, directing, and executing daily building operations and services for a high-tech testing environment.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Adept at mentoring, coaching, and empowering team members to foster growth, build ownership, and achieve results.
  • Resource Allocation: Proficient in managing schedules, balancing workloads, and optimizing staff productivity to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Test Program Management: Experience in planning, setting up, and executing testing programs, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and operational standards. Read and interpret engineering plans and specificaitions. 
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, Strong ability to maintain, repair, and upgrade test systems and equipment for optimal performance and data fidelity.
  • Leadership & People Development: Inspire and motivate team members, creating a respectful, inclusive, and results-driven work culture.
  • Decision-Making & Problem-Solving: Confident and thoughtful decision-maker who encourages appropriate risk-taking and collaborative solutions.
  • Effective Communication: Clear and professional communicator with internal teams and customers to ensure program goals and requirements are met.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain high-quality standards in test execution, data review, and reporting accuracy.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • AS degree or certification in related discipline
  • 5+ years in related experience; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
