Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit operation and maintenance manuals for Calspan ASE equipment by obtaining technical input from engineers and designers, drawings, specifications, statements of work, test procedures, and other related sources.
  • Incorporate and implement illustrations, tables, charts, and drawings into the manual sets as needed to provide clear instructions to end users.
  • Produce, publish, and properly maintain and index manual sets.
  • Manage multiple manual projects effectively in order to meet deadlines and accommodate any changes in scope, format, content, and methods of distribution.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Science, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing or similar industry; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize diverse materials and write clearly with attention to format, content, order, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Ability to understand the operation of complex electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, FrameMaker, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to assume initiative, work independently, multitask, stay within budget, and meet project deadlines.

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
