The Network/Systems Administrator will oversee maintenance of daily performance, monitor network and system performance and administration of security on multiple platforms for computer networks. They will resolve network problems, assist with design, implement and maintain computer communications systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and administer all computer network functions. Monitor status of the network to ensure that all devices are working properly. Evaluate network performance to maintain standards and correct as necessary. Responsible for network security, including registering users and installing firewalls.
  • Oversee support function to include installation, configuration, and operation of personal computer equipment and with the integration of PC systems into the local-area and wide-area networks.
  • Oversee installation, upgrades, configuration, and maintenance of operating system workstations and servers.
  • Work with senior management to determine the strategic direction of the IT function, including workflow, process definition, project planning and implementation.
  • Research and recommend network hardware, software and communications solutions for current and future system needs.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 5+ years in IT generalist related position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
  • Due to security requirements, US Citizenship is required
  • Active SECRET security clearance desired.
  • Ability to travel 25% 

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Proficiency with Cisco networking strongly desired
  • Experience with applications and programming
  • Strong knowledge of testing, evaluation and preparing systems for security certifications in accordance with DCSA Standards including NIST and DAAPM
  • Ensure the day-to-day implementation, oversight, continuous monitoring, and maintenance of the security configuration, practices, and procedures for the facility
  • Ensure that system security documentation is developed, maintained, reviewed, and updated on a continuous basis
  • Conduct required IS vulnerability scans according to risk assessment parameters and leads internal and external audits
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
