Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to oversee and coordinate international jet engine test facility construction projects from inception to completion. This role is responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of specialized construction projects in the aviation industry spanning all phases from pre-construction through closeout. The Construction Project Manager is accountable for full lifecycle project execution, including engineering coordination, procurement, and construction (EPC). This role ensures that projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the required technical scope, quality, safety standards, and applicable local regulations.

  • Manage greenfield and/or brownfield construction of international jet engine test facilities with life cycles spanning 24-36 months. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, consultants, engineers, A&Es, GCs, and internal/external international project teams to ensure successful project execution while acting as the single focal point for customers.
  • Responsible to lead and manage the interface and communications with the customer/client stakeholders in a manner that serves to align customer expectations with achievable project results. Drive schedule adherence through active management of engineering, procurement, and construction milestones. (EPC)
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to construction, logistics, and operational constraints. Maintain detailed project documentation, including contracts, change orders, progress reports, and compliance records. Facilitate and support construction in resolving design queries, RFIs, field issues, value engineering, and code requirements.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and revenue, including preparation of project financial forecasts driving team to meet budgetary objectives. Provide total project ownership across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Ensure timely completion of punch list items and delivery of as-built documentation/drawings. Coordinate customer training, technical manual compilation, and project close-out documentation packages. Conduct lessons-learned reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare and present monthly project status reports, cost performance metrics, and variance analyses.

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience:

· BS in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

· CCM, PMP, or equivalent certification preferred

· 5-10+ years of progressive construction project management experience, ideally with technically complex projects in the $10M to $50M range.

 

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

· In-depth knowledge and experience in a construction project management environment coupled with a proven ability to adapt the approach to the specific project/client situation.

· Strong understanding of project management tools & practices with emphasis on building construction.

· P&L experience at the project level with a proven track record of leading and delivering successful projects.

· Strong leadership, organized, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving skills along with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.

· Decisive, results-oriented self-starter who operates with a sense of urgency and maintains exceptional attention to detail.

· Ability to quickly adapt and change priorities in a fast-paced environment while managing interruptions.

· Strong client-facing skills with demonstrated success managing client expectations and successfully fulfilling project requirements.

· Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a proactive planned approach delivering success in a cross-function team environment.

· Proficiency with MS Office Suite with advanced capabilities in MS Project for tracking and reporting.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise, and effective technical reports and presentations.

· Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to foster and build strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

· Strong background and understanding of construction management principles and practices.

· Demonstrated ability to assess and mitigate technical, commercial, quality, and schedule risks.

· Provide leadership and direction to project teams while encouraging a collaborative work environment.

· Experience managing complex international construction projects.

· Valid Driver’s License.

· International travel 25%-50%; variable depending on project phase

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
