Calspan’s Automotive Crash Facility, located in Buffalo, NY, is recognized worldwide for its leadership in vehicle safety testing. With a mission to advance the science of crash testing, we’re seeking a skilled Sr. Barrier Technician to support and improve our state-of-the-art test systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support test setup, preparation and execution of full-scale outdoor crash tests in accordance with

    ASTM 2656, ASTM 3016, and MASH standards

  • Assist with test execution, including operation of barrier drive systems and coordination with Barrier

    test team

  • Perform post-test activities including cleanup, site reset, and preparation for subsequent testing
  • Maintain, inspect, and repair barrier infrastructure, test equipment, and support systems to ensure

    operational readiness

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and data collection problems with test equipment and

    measurement devices.

  • Support setup of high-speed cameras as required for specific test
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure safe operation of equipment and test environments

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

· 5+ years in related discipline or;

· A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

 

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

· Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems

· Electrical and electronic principles

· Read and understand engineering plans and specifications

· Read drawings and troubleshoot

· Microsoft Office

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
